Name Suppression, in name only

All Black in court on assault charge - New Zealand, world, sport, business & entertainment news on Stuff.co.nz Just how many current internationally playing All Blacks come from Hamilton then? Like the "Celebrity drug trails" last year, name supression becomes a legal state of anonimity where the media pretend to hide identity. In this case, details of the case are just a little specific.

Thats not as easy as you think - Kelleher, Sitivatu, Lauaki and milliani, Robinson are all current all blacks 'living' in hamilton. SO that puts it down to 5, but there are no clues as to which one...

Really? With the barely fuzzed out TV shots, and the fact it happened in Auckland not narrow it down?

Not that I want to identify the accused. I would prefer that name suppression was effective in this case and think the publication of more than "a rugby player" means that the intrusive journalist shows their contempt for the law on name suppression by making it guessable.

By naming 5 great players, 4 of them are having their names devalued by the inference that it could be any of them. And the 1 who is being charged and does have name suppression is innocent until proven guilty.

It is prejudicial, in my view, to say it is a current international All Black from Hamilton.
