Drug Book Import carries large fine

NZ Customs has fined a man $6000 for importing drug recipe books into New Zealand. Before ordering information and importing it to New Zealand check with Customs. If you get into trouble importing books, you probably want to speak with a lawyer.

ADD / ADHD 2

Running away is not a sin. In itself it is a protest, a way of saying that freedom is the natural state of man. But this little man is only eleven years old and the police rang Mary at 10pm after picking Robbie up stealing at the local supermarket.

Her father had helped bring up Robbie after his violent father had shot himself. This left its scars, but fortunately Robbie was staying with Grandparents when it happened. Unfortunately Mary saw the whole thing and the scars it left on her psyche made it very hard on her when Robbie started to vanish from the house.

She had just got up from a deep sleep, dreaming of the sea and storms and ships, and pulling her robe around her, she realized her son was not in his bed. He was not in the house. He was not playing in the courtyard. His bicycle was missing. Her son was missing.

She waited all day, but did not hear anything. She wanted to leave the house in the car and go searching for him, but what if he came home?

She decided to wait by the phone, while she waited to start her day. By mid afternoon she felt very distracted. It was just not like Robbie to take off like that, he was a quiet boy who sat and watched TV when he wasn't on the Playstation she gave him for his birthday two years before. He loved going round the driving track again and again for hours. At least it kept him quiiet. Robbie was a nice boy, but seemed to have no friends, many "accidents" and did not do that well at school.

Mary felt that he took unnecessary risks. He seemed inattentive, and sometimes dull. She had caught him lying several times and he had been known to have extremely difiant moods, where nothing she could say would placate him.

But now it was dinner time and still no word. Mary was frantic and could do nothing. The day had been spent just about starting something and then she would look at the phone and that horrible feeling would wrap its slimey tentacles around her and she remained paralysed, stuck to the chair, uncertain of what to do.

The elation that the interruption of the phone ringing was shattered as a deep authoritative voice appears. If she could have pressed a rewind button at that point, she would have, but his was a man's voice.

A day of silence and some tears left her throat croakey. She cleared her voice and said "Can I help you."

"Mrs Adam?" the man started, "we picked up you son after he was observed stealing adult DVDs from a video shop.

"I will come right away." And she left immediately, forgetting to check the gas level in her car. She picked him up from the police and ran out of gas on the way home.

ADD / ADHD

It was only a year ago that the kid moved into Boyd's house. There were two families sharing the house, but it worked fairly well for the time being. Until the kid stole some money from Tina, the daughter of the other family. Then everything seemed different. Somehow everyone became guarded. The kid was watched from dawn till dusk and Boyd told me he couldn't sleep. Anytime the kid moved, someone wanted to know why.

More recently he was picked up stealing, but this time it was police and they warned him. Then he started to run away.

A diagnosis of ADD was confirmed by the psychiatrist and he was put on Ritalin which helps him concentrate at school.

Boyd's experience sound familiar? We are interested! We would like to hear from you with your story about ADD/ADHD children and criminality. Do not use real names or places. Do tell us if you feel anything helped.

Submit your story here. We will publish the best stories about children, crime and learning disabilities.

Child Criminality and Suicide II

We have received some interest in this article (it appears next as this jounal is published latest first) and wanted to clarify in more direct terms.

Criminality is defined as behaviours which do not conform to the laws of co-existence with others. This is a fundamental, for example you do take things which do not belong to you, and your property may thus be protected.

During childhood the self is pretty much the sphere of awareness. Thus, abuse to children can not be rationalised as the "other side of the story" does not yet exist. A prisoner is not affected by the fashion trends on the high street. An abused child can not shake it off.

We tend to strive for things which we believe we can attain. The abused child turns to crime due to basic human needs. Hunger is such a need.

But our society judges individuals and they become outcasts from the path that is like a map towards wealth and security. The long slippery path down is very hard to climb back up. So the earlier a life of crime begins, the harder it is to end. Like any habit based in childhood.

But as the child grows older and their sins against society become punishable, these "norms" of behaviour become maladjusted behaviour. The child solution of "running away" fails to work.

As society starts to close doors in the juvenile criminal, the odds become increasingly stacked against the young person finding a rationale that society can approve of, and criminality becomes a way of surviving and a trap.

The way out of this trap may be harder and harder to find.

Child Criminality and Suicide

Criminality could be defined as a developed tendency of self loathing caused by hurting others to survive and that may lead to seeing no future.

We have justice due to a self correcting mechanism that most of us possess. That thing that makes us feel wrong or bad when we do something that's going to harm someone else. We have laws to protect us from each other.

A lack of physical dignity may cause kids to fall into bahaviour that part of the self does not abide by, and thus detaches that part of the personality that makes it a wrong move to hurt another person. Some are trained by bullies or cruel siblings into accepting that hurting others is the ugly side of what is expected of them (to survive). Continue down that track for too long and a sense of self value can not form.

It is the truth, then that kids are led into modes of thinking that lead to suicide as the only solution. Most kids do not act merely on a passing thought. Suicide is the last event of a life. It thus becomes the most important issue and that may effect carefully laid plans.

The person taking their life may of course be smashed out of their skull on coke or tripping away like the flame of a candle. Or driving too fast. Or not. The actual result is the same.

Life is sacred enough to protect. If a young person is suicidal, it doesn't matter what the statisics say. Each person is a person but soon will not be at all if someone does not intervene, early enough, to prevent the beginings of such personal attack or negativity.

If you are accused of taking a life, it is possible a good defence lawyer will prevent the state from taking your own life away from you. From your hands.

People who commit violent crimes usually are not the unlucky victims as well. Suicide requires an act of violence, not always apparent, as in cases of ODs.

If you are out roaming the streets and someone attacks you, the law protects you by the same laws that protect the wealthy. Justice demands an objective view of all sides.

If something took hold of your will, surpassing it at every opportunity, or thottling it with calm fingers. It is time to act in your own interests. If life became so dark because of something you did, then you have to admit to your self that you are not always right. And if its too late to turn back before your final move, then God help you.

The concept of suicide as an exit to better things if the believer believes in a personally held idea about respective notions of an almighty is utter rubbish.

Except perhaps Euthenasia cults, and Death cults, there are very few world religions that actually celebrate suicide. For example, Islam forbids suicide, in fact the act guarantees hell. Christianity also sees suicide as a mortal sin. Sacrifice is one thing, but a descent into destroying lives (including the self) is madness and a perversion of faith. Life is sacred.

If someone you know is attempting suicide, do whatever you can to help them survive. If they do not, not only is it not your fault, but you may still require a good defence lawyer.

NZ Herald

Juvenile Crime and Suicide rates in NZ

New Zealand is a happy country – or is it? Leading the world in teen suicide and drug use, one is tempted to gloss over the facts and react saying that cannibis smoking is leading to these tragedies.

In fact the NZ Herald highlights that NZ youth lead the world in crime, suicide and dope smoking. Right wing pundits seek to inter-relate these statistics.

NZ is third in the world for rates of Methamphetamine use amoung teens. We all know that “speed kills” but this message has been highjacked by the Road Safety people. It was invented for speed, the drug, extensive amphetamine use does cause brain damage, induce schitzophrenic symptoms and this is a definite cause of suicide.

The extensive use of Speed by kids in the UK and NZ is a horror story and if any of you felons out there are selling our kids speed, then you are definitely contributing to the suicide statistic.

Cannibis use may lead to suicide but to imply that it is a major cause is silly and misleading. Check out the individuals that use Methamphetamine and there you will find extensive criminality, familial disasters, self induced schitzophrenia and eventual suicide in far too many instances.
